Provide Free Sanitary Pads in All Public Secondary Schools

Period poverty is still a quiet crisis in many public secondary schools. Girls from low-income households frequently miss several school days each month simply because they cannot afford sanitary pads — and over a full academic year, those missed days add up to a real and measurable education gap between boys and girls.

While some national programs exist, distribution is inconsistent and many schools report going months without supply. We are calling on the Ministry of Education to establish a guaranteed, termly restocking schedule for all public secondary schools, with a transparent tracking system so schools can report shortages before they become a crisis.

Keeping girls in class during their periods is not a small ask — it is a basic condition for equal access to education. We urge the Ministry to treat this as a standing budget line, not a one-off donation program.
