Improve Road Safety by Constructing Pedestrian Footbridges Along Kisii–Migori Highway at Suneka Town

Every day, thousands of residents, students, business owners, and visitors cross the Kisii–Migori Highway at Suneka Town. The increasing traffic volume has made crossing extremely dangerous, leading to numerous accidents, serious injuries, and preventable deaths.

Despite repeated appeals from the local community, there remains no pedestrian footbridge at the busiest crossing points near schools, markets, hospitals, and public transport stages.

We respectfully petition the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to:

1. Construct at least two modern pedestrian footbridges within Suneka Town.

2. Install speed calming measures approaching the town.

3. Improve street lighting around pedestrian crossings.

4. Construct accessible walkways for persons with disabilities.

5. Install proper road signage warning motorists of heavy pedestrian traffic.

These improvements will significantly reduce accidents, protect school children and vulnerable road users, and improve the safety and quality of life for all residents.

We urge KeNHA and the Ministry of Roads and Transport to prioritize this critical project in the interest of public safety.
